Autumn is unfolding, and with it come exciting developments for my feature film directorial debut, Tenants of Carver Hill. New collaborations are on the horizon, and fresh screenplay ideas are finally making their way to my keyboard. This year has been one of personal growth. Unexpected revelations have stopped me in my tracks, raised the mirror, and challenged me to find both strength and patience.

My love for my family and our collective connection has thrived. We’ve come together to celebrate, to grieve, and to care for our healing loved ones. Our roots deepening in fertile soil. The quiet time I spend in my home in California devoted to art, love, gardening, reading, and of course watching incredible films, has brought me tremendous peace and joy. As I turn another year older this month, I reflect on my life and burst with gratitude. The adventure has taken me on an ever-evolving dance and I love it. I love all of it.

I hope we all continue to grow and be fueled by art and optimism.  -  Hollis

“Tenants Of Carver Hill” welcomes our new composer.

Tasos Eliopoulos has joined the team to write and execute the original score for my haunted house thriller. The collaboration has been marvelous and I am excited for you all to hear it.

Tasos Eliopoulos was born in Athens, Greece. At the age of seven, he enrolled in the Athens Conservatory, where he studied classical violin, piano, harmony, counterpoint, orchestration, and composition. He was an active member of both the chorus and symphonic orchestra, and later completed advanced studies in film scoring, music technology, and sound engineering.

His early exposure to violin led him to meet renowned pedagogues Roland and Almita Vamos, who were recognized by the White House for their contributions to music education. Though classically trained, composition quickly became Tasos’s preferred medium. In his teens, he joined heavy metal bands and even produced a classical music album infused with Nu-Metal elements. He later explored electronic music, pioneering new stylistic blends. Since then, Tasos has composed and recorded scores for over fifty film projects, earning multiple awards for his work. He is currently represented by KCA Music.

A message from the Festival Director,

Female energy is the life force. Creativity is our birthright. As a young woman, I lacked the presence of a strong female role model/mentor. I now know the importance of community. PlanetFemale is for storytellers of all female persuasions, providing a launch and landing pad, a platform to share what we females have lived and imagined. Here, on this virtual planet created just for us, we share our angst and our hope, with support and inspiration, creating the best narrative for what is yet to be.

Thank you to all my friends, fans, and colleagues who have supported me through the years. Together, we keep independent filmmaking alive. Each collaboration, each shared vision, reminds me that cinema is something we create together. It can transport us, move us, challenge us, and connect us.

WIFFLE-BALL FUNDRAISER

Was A Fun Filled Success In The Los Angeles Sunshine.

On a beautiful weekend in June, filmmakers, friends, and furry pals came together in support of independent filmmaking. With the rising cost of TENANTS OF CARVER HILL’s post-production as the motivator, FDP launched a wiffle-ball game fundraiser and filmmaker mixer.

Huge thanks to all the Ballers and additional contributors for helping us raise a total of $6,000 toward finishing funds!

TENANTS OF CARVER HILL - THE FINAL SCENES

I had the pleasure of gathering a skeleton crew from our original Carver team to capture the final puzzle pieces of the film. Filming in the stark, wintry woods added a striking, almost spectral contrast to a story that largely unfolds amidst the lush, green springtime of rural Pennsylvania.

As Tenants of Carver Hill, our haunted house thriller, draws closer to locking picture, its eerie, enigmatic essence is coming into full form. These newly captured sequences are weaving seamlessly into the film, enriching the story’s timeline with an added layer of depth, atmosphere, and intrigue.

… As the collection of shots, the construction of scenes, the pieces of a story come to life in the edit, I am elated. Words, words, word - from a story I made up in my head are becoming real. Made alive by the actors, painted by light and lensing, as the good doctor once said, “Its alive!”…

… I am so proud to announce the festival special screening of Farmer’s Daughter Productions latest short film. “YES” will debut at La Femme International Film Festival, Friday 10/25/24. [See screenings tab for more info]

STAYING INSPIRED AS AN ARTIST

… Laying eyes on the cartouches inscribed with colorful hieroglyphics, the tremendous dynastic statues of Pharaohs and griffins, and the of pre-dynastic Egyptian artifacts made me feel, at times rather overwhelmed. How incredible it is, that we are all part of this rich human history…

… Visiting Stonehenge has long been a goal for me and the visit will be an experience that stays with me. The tremendous work and care it took its Mesolithic and Neolithic creators to build this sacred site spanned approximately 3100BC to 1600BC… Walking in the wind and rain around this sacred structure felt important and humbling. Older than the pyramids, Stonehenge remains, but is still a profound mystery.

See the world. Read. Stay inspired.

… I am excited to share our key art designed by Nicole Ellingson. With film and fine art as her background, Nicole began her design career with her first key art assignment being CATWOMAN starring Halle Berry…

… Welcome Brian Ufberg to the team. With over thirty years of editing under his belt, Brian has worked alongside some of the industry’s top filmmakers, including Alejandro Gonzálas Innuritu, Stephen Soderburgh, and David Fincher. His provocative editing work on Osgood Perkins’ horror films, THE BLACKCOAT’S DAUGHTER (A24) premiered at TIFF, as did I AM THE PRETTY THING THAT LIVES IN THE HOUSE (Netflix)….

… Choosing the right editor is a crucial step in crafting a cohesive and successful film. A movie is shaped in three phases: the script, on set, and during the editing process. An effective editor must intimately understand both the story and the filmmaker’s vision, enhancing the narrative through careful attention to pacing, tone, and rhythm in the cuts and transitions. With Brian's extensive experience and unique creative perspective, this collaborative relationship promises to be a recipe for success.… Link to Read More
