“YES” World Premiere!
I am so proud to announce the festival world premiere of Farmer’s Daughter Productions latest short film, “YES.”
“YES” will debut at La Femme International Film Festival. Friday 8/25 at 12PM
Written and directed by Randi Barros, “YES” will screen in a short film block at the Regal Cinema at LA Live in Downtown Los Angeles. Our film block is a total of four short films 12:00pm-2:00pm
Orphaned by fire, Mia lives with her aunt in a rural desert-scape by the Mexican-American border. When she finds an immigrant mother and daughter hiding in her shed, she is jolted out of grief and into action.

EDITING UPDATES
Editor Brian Ufberg has been delivering beautiful cuts and inspired ideas with each of his scene deliveries. As the collection of shots, the construction of scenes, the pieces of a story come to life in the edit, I am elated. Words, words, word - from a story I made up in my head are becoming real. Made alive by the actors, painted by light and lensing, as the good doctor once said, “Its alive!”
In just a few weeks we’ll have a full assembly. From that point, I watch the film with critical but fresh eyes, adjust the overall flow, experiment with new ideas and dial in the details with Brian. I have been looking forward to this secondary phase of our editing process. This is the fun part, where a film begins really looking like a film. At the assembly stage, additional team will join the collaboration. The composer and sound designer, and visual effects supervisor will begin adding all that good spice - giving the film some exciting new heat.

Staying Inspired As An Artist
I recently enjoyed a family adventure to London, England, and feel so very full and grateful for the time we spent together making memories.
Ancient History has long been a subject that has excited me to no end. Having the opportunity to explore The British Museum was awe inspiring. Wandering through the immense Egypt collection took my breath away. Laying eyes on the cartouches inscribed with colorful hieroglyphics, the tremendous dynastic statues of Pharaohs and griffins, and the of pre-dynastic Egyptian artifacts made me feel, at times rather overwhelmed. How incredible it is, that we are all part of this rich human history.
The Royal Library of Ashurbanipal, the first ever known library, affected me deeply. The last great king of the Assyrian Empire, was so proud of his literacy that he charged scribes to collect copies of texts from all around the known world. His collection of more than 30,000 clay tablets remains, despite a tremendous volume of these works, thought to have been around 500,000 pieces, being intentionally destroyed by fire at the hands of his enemies. Everything scribed on wood and papyrus was decimated by flame.

Visiting Stonehenge has long been a goal for me and the visit will be an experience that stays with me. The tremendous work and care it took its Mesolithic and Neolithic creators to build this sacred site spanned approximately 3100BC to 1600BC. Around 2500BC the colossal 20-30 ton sarsen stones were likely sourced from a location 15 miles North and then carved with hand tools and erected at this location. The older stone formation of bluestones, currently around the center, were drug in from 150 miles away in what is now Wales. The bluestones had been rearranged several times over the corse of hundreds of years. Honoring the Winter and Summer solstice was clear by its design but the mystery still remains, why was this sacred site so important? Who built it and why here? Why did the building materials come from so very far away. This past month a geologist has made an incredibly discovery. They determined that the centrally located alter stone was in fact sourced from Northern Scotland. It is the only sarsen stone that was brought from that distant location.
Walking in the wind and rain around this sacred structure felt important and humbling. Older than the pyramids, Stonehenge remains, but is still a profound mystery.
